MaP Member Listening Circle: Difficult Conversations

Kyle Bowen

This event is now full. However, we will host more Listening Circles in the future. Comment below if you’d like to be added to the waitlist.Building meaningful relationships within a community takes more than casual conversation. It requires the kind of listening that helps us truly understand each other's inner thinking, emotions, and guiding principles. Join fellow MaP community members for a guided deep listening practice. Whether you're new to the community or a longtime member, the structured format helps create genuine connections while developing listening skills that are valuable for all aspects of museum work. In this session, we'll focus on a challenge many museum professionals face: difficult discussions at work. This event ties into our event series on difficult conversations. However, you don’t have to be a participant in that series to join this session.  What to ExpectDuring the session, you'll: • Listen as community members share experiences navigating difficult conversations • Use our simple Miro board template to take notes that reveal deeper insights • Choose your level of participation — share your own experiences or simply observe and learn • Follows the Chatham House Rule ("stories stay, lessons leave") Who This Event Is ForThis session will be of interest to: • Museum professionals exploring different approaches to leadership • Anyone seeking to strengthen their listening skills • Listening Deeply course participants who would like to practice what they’ve learned • Those interested in understanding how people approach goals Preparation• Review the Deep Listening Quick Guide (sent after RSVP) • No prior experience needed (anyone can do this kind of listening!) • A stable internet connection for virtual participation — We’ll use a Miro board for collaborative practice, but you don’t need a Miro account to participate About Your Host@Kyle Bowen will facilitate the session, drawing on his experience helping museums implement listening practices that strengthen both internal and external relationships.
