“Museums and Societal Collapse” with Robert Janes [The Strategic Museum Exchange]

Kyle Bowen

What role might cultural institutions play in supporting their communities during extreme social turmoil or collapse? Executive directors are invited to join us for a special event series with Author Robert Janes to explore this question while reading Janes’s latest book Museums and Societal Collapse: The Museum as Lifeboat. Each week, we’ll meet to discuss a portion of the book, with Robert Janes himself present to provide insights, answer questions, and engage in dialogue about the future of museums in the face of societal challenges. This reading series offers a unique opportunity to explore the implications of societal collapse for museum leaders and to reimagine the role of museums in a rapidly changing world.  What to Expect • Engaging discussions with Robert Janes • A supportive environment to share ideas and concerns with fellow museum leaders • Opportunities to connect the book’s concepts to your institution’s challenges • Collaborative exploration of innovative strategies for museums in times of crisis In this sessionDiscussion of chapter two of the book.
