Join Museums as Progress
Cultural organizations often measure their value through visitor numbers and demographic data, believing that engagement is the path to relevance. But engagement is only valuable to the institution — people don't want to be engaged by a museum. People pursue goals that matter to them: having a memorable afternoon with friends, helping students grasp complex concepts, or exploring whether they could pursue a career in the arts. Engagement is merely the shadow someone casts while making progress toward these goals.
MaP helps institutions identify and support the goals that matter most to their communities, leading to more meaningful impact and sustainable growth. Institutions can participate in several ways, including individual learning and organizational programs.
Organizational Membership
Designed for institutions ready to provide their staff with professional development and research opportunities.
Designed for institutions ready to move beyond engagement metrics to true community progress. As a cross-functional community of practice, MaP brings together teams from every corner of the cultural sector who are reimagining how their organizations support their communities' goals.
Organizational membership helps your team:
Shift the conversation from egnagement to progress by giving your colleagues early access to research findings from MaP studies
Build cross-functional capabilities through unlimited staff access to paid events and seasonal workshops
Learn from peer institutions testing new approaches in a supportive environment
Access a comprehensive library of recorded sessions and implementation resources
As partners in learning, existing Organizational Members also receive special pricing on programs like The Value Realization Collaborative and The Community Goals Study.
If needed, we’ll verify your organization’s budget after you register.

Seasonal Progress Focus
Rather than trying to tackle everything at once, most MaP programs operate seasonally with focused themes that help institutions build sustained momentum. Each season explores a critical aspect of progress-focused practice — from Leadership to Listening, Mapping to Motivation. This structured approach ensures your team can:
Develop deep understanding rather than surface-level knowledge
Test new approaches within a supportive peer community
Build on previous learning rather than starting fresh each time
Connect insights across different aspects of museum practice
Want to persuade your leadership to enroll your institution?
Make a copy of the factsheet. Then, edit the document as you see fit and share it with your colleagues to make the case for enrollment.
