About Becky Jefcoate
Becky is a museum leader, consultant and researcher. Based at the University of Cambridge in the UK, she is currently researching 'Museums for Wellbeing and Happiness' and has recently returned from an Arts Council research trip gathering insight and learnings from some of the inspiring museums in USA and Canada.
Becky has a passion for creating memorable, meaningful and enjoyable museum experiences. Most recently, as Director of the Cartoon Museum she led the transformational move of the museum to its new location in central London, establishing a successful new visitor attraction with new immersive galleries, exhibition and creative programmes that bring to life the world of cartoons, comics and animation. As Founding Director and CEO of Wells Maltings she successfully led a large scale regeneration project transforming a former Maltings building into a major new heritage and learning centre, producing an award winning creative programme and establishing the hugely popular Wells Pirate Festival which attracted thousands from across the UK to celebrate the towns maritime heritage. She has developed popular interpretation and creative programmes for many of the UK's heritage sites at English Heritage and National Trust including Sutton Hoo, Kenilworth Castle and Osborne House and led creative audience development initiatives for Royal Opera House, Royal Academy of Arts, Museum of London and Bloomsbury Theatre.
Alongside her research, Becky is currently creating the UK's first Museum of Dogs.
