Understand Your Landscape (Months 1–2)
Your staff complete the MaP³ assessment (survey and interviews), which reveals current institutional strengths and constraints.
Time Commitment: The staff survey takes about 15 minutes to complete. Ideally 75% of staff will complete this survey (25% minimum); 2–12 staff participate in 30-minute interviews with MaP researchers.
Outcomes Validation (Months 2–3)
We examine your assessment results together, identifying opportunities where focused effort can drive outsized impact. You identify a shortlist of participant outcomes for further study, and we distribute a survey to visitors to measure performance in providing those well-being outcomes.
Time Commitment: 2 one-hour meetings for leadership; 50-minute data-collection training for select staff. Data collection time varies, but those inviting visitors to participate should aim to intercept between 200 and 500 potential participants.
Prioritization (Month 4)
We analyze results and provide your museum with a report that integrates visitor insights with your internal assessment. Leadership convenes to discuss which outcome they’d like to prioritize in the near term. We’ll discuss how your museum can use your selected well-being outcome to foster collaboration between departments and provide options for further study and peer collaboration.
Time Commitment: One 80-minute session for leadership.
Program Participation & Mid-Year Checkup
From the first day you enroll in MaP³, staff participate in MaP events, workshops, and programs that they deem relevant to their work. Depending on the nature of assessment results, we may develop programming specific to supporting common institutional goals.
In month 6, your staff liaison(s) will be invited to a session with MaP team members to discuss how staff are utilizing resources and how we can provide additional support during the final half of your year in the program.
Time Commitment: Entirely up to individuals in your museum — Your colleagues can participate in some or all community workshops and gatherings. The mid-year gathering is a 45-minute meeting with your MaP liason(s) and members of the MaP team.
Program Participation & Reassessment (Months 7–12)
Your staff continue to participate in seasonal events to support their goals, including reading series, listening practice sessions, and The Strategic Museum Exchange. At the end of the year, you’ll be invited to continue to participate in reassessment to see what’s changed with regard to revenue, alignment, learning capabilities, and participant outcomes. Internal assessment and all-staff membership benefits are included with renewal. You may choose to reassess visitor outcomes for an additional fee.
Time Commitment: Your staff choose to participate in the workshops and gatherings that are relevant to them. Assuming you choose to continue in the program, staff respond to the assessment survey again, and we meet in month 13 to review results.
