Here’s a slide from today’s webinar that we had to cut for the sake of time and, well, to give it more thought:

Museums are slow-moving machines, relative to other sectors, perhaps, but it’s worth remembering that they do change and the rate of change is accelerating.
In our webinar planning discussions, we talked about how each era bleeds into the next — it’s hard to draw a clear line between the visitor experience shift and the participation shift, for example. And maybe we’re still in what our group labeled ‘the participation shift’. It’s hard to know how we’ll define the current moment in 10 or 20 years time, but I do think there’s a shift underway — if we want there to be.
What name would you give it?
