Changes to our website, events, and newsletter, and why we made each one.
Mark up pages the way you would a book you own
You can highlight text in posts on our website, and highlights are now distinctive — color and line quality are different for each person who marks up a page. I think distinctive marks may help people intuit that highlights are not made by one person (i.e., the author) but are instead contributions from readers. Can turning static text into something more like a shared canvas fuel more active participation among readers? A shared surface you can mark up can help the author understand what resonates with readers, and help readers who prefer to skim find what matters quickly.
Comments don’t get lost during login
Now, if you’re asked to confirm your email address while writing a comment, what you wrote is saved and posts once you’re confirmed. You can also add a link or attach a file to a comment. A logged-out member could write a comment, hit ‘send’, and then be prompted to log in … then lose their comment. People are more willing to share a comment when they can be sure they won’t lose what they’re working on in the process.
RSVP is faster
It now takes just a second to register your RSVP for an event on the website. Your spot is confirmed right away, and the confirmation email follows shortly after. If you RSVPed for an event, it took about ten seconds to register. Not good.

You can follow new articles and events in a feed reader
You can follow our website in a feed reader app, such as Feedly or NetNewsWire: add museumprogress.com to see each new article and event with a short excerpt as it’s posted. Some people prefer to keep up with MaP outside of their email inbox.
Our online programs are available again
Our self-paced programs, including Listening Deeply, are back on the website, with the text and transcripts restored for most lessons. If you’re enrolled, sign in with your email address.
